Braemar Gathering & Highland Games discover
Traditional Highland Games with heavy athletics, Highland Dancing and pipe bands in Braemar's historic arena.
The Gathering takes place at the Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park in Braemar. It has been held in its current form since 1832. Heavy throwing events, tug-of-war, and pipe bands combine sport with Scottish music and dance traditions.
The royal connection dates back at least to Queen Victoria's visit in 1848. However, royal attendance is not guaranteed. General admission and reserved seating are separate ticket types; the annual program defines the timings and schedule.
