The Jacobite Steam Train discover
Historic steam train journey from Fort William to Mallaig across the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct seen in Harry Potter.
The Jacobite runs on the West Highland Line between Fort William and Mallaig. The round trip covers 84 miles, linking mountain landscapes, lochs, and coastal stretches with the port of Mallaig. The Glenfinnan Viaduct with its 21 arches is the most famous landmark along the route.
The operator indicates a layover of around an hour and a half in Mallaig. A stop in Glenfinnan and crossing the viaduct slowly depend on operational conditions. This page covers the train ride itself, not a bus tour from Edinburgh. Taking the train does not guarantee a specific movie compartment.
